Musicbank: An Introduction
MusicBank was a very early “Jukebox in the sky” web application service. User’s were required to scan their CD’s to validate ownership of the media, after which we would give them high-quality streaming access to their library over the internet. It featured different ways to view, browse, and search for music, playlist management, and a tear off player.
The service never quite got off the ground (Unless you count a neverending public beta, and a fantastically conspicuous “launch” party that was rumored to cost over a million dollars and featured James Brown as the headline act
I was hired as the Information Architect, but as the company contracted, my role expanded to include visual design and web development.
*Because of the small and collaborative nature of the company, most of my Musicbank design artifacts are wall-sized posters.
